If you’re planning to make a stop in town anytime soon or live nearby and want some ideas for things to do, we have five things not to miss in Guilford.

The Town Green

When you’re in town, you’ll definitely want to visit the picturesque Guilford Town Green. It’s a quaint area that has barely changed since the 17th century. It sits on just under eight acres with beautiful trees and paved paths that run diagonally from all corners.

During your visit, the Civil War memorial is something you want to keep an eye out for. It dates back to 1877 and depicts a Union soldier looking towards the south. The streets around the Green make up the third-largest collection of historical homes in New England.

Taking a stroll around the Green any time of the year is a great way to get to know the area while getting those daily steps in!

Bishop’s Orchards

Bishop’s Orchards has been a staple in the Guilford community since 1871 when it first opened its doors. It remains a bustling orchard and farm market that sells everything from fresh produce to baked goods. You’ll also find organic and specialty foods as well as locally-made wines.

During the year, there are pick-your-own fruits when they are in season. Strawberries, apples, and blueberries are among the most popular available. Recently added is the creamery that serves homemade ice cream and other tasty treats. Bishop’s Orchards is one of those places that everyone who has been to Guilford knows about and frequently visits throughout the year!

Shoreline Segway

Why not see the sights in Guilford in a fun way? A two-wheel Segway can do the trick! Shoreline Segway offers tours from its shop on Boston Post Road. Have no fear; you’ll learn the basics before you depart on your adventure. Cruising around on your Segway is a great way to see different parts of Guilford. Even locals familiar with the town also enjoy this way to get around!

During the Halloween season, Shoreline Segway also offers a ghost tour. Just don’t get too spooked while you’re riding! Rides are offered seven days a week, year-round, weather permitting, by appointment.

Dudley Farm

Erastus Dudley, a wealthy farmer and gristmill, and tannery owner, built this large-scale farmhouse in 1844. The Dudley Foundation now manages the ten acres of land at The Dudley Farm. Go on a tour to experience life on the farm during the previous era.

The barns and outbuildings have farming equipment and tools on display. There are also herb gardens and a farm garden on the grounds. You can see family quilts, tapestries, and furniture on the home’s inside. It truly is a great place to visit when you want to see a piece of history.
